Claudia Stock
Qualified Genealogist (DAGV)
During my time at elementary school I created my first pedigree as part of a school project.
After completing school, I learned the profession of travel management assistant. In 25 years of professional experience (including store manager, tour guide and trainer), I have traveled extensively, both professionally and privately, and met many people who were looking for their roots.
In 2005 I went to Tasmania in Australia for a long time to live and work there. During this time I started researching my ancestors. At first I never thought that I would get so far and experience so many interesting things.
My two ancestor branches are very different, frequent changes of location made it difficult to research the family history, but then made them more varied and interesting. There have also been many interesting stories. An insight into my private research can be found at www.claudiastock.eu
I have collected many family photos and documents, researched on the Internet and in archives, learned ancient typefaces and transcribed them ever since.
The historical context has always interested me.
How did our ancestors live, how many children did they have, what professions did they practice, how did they live? And why did you leave your place of residence and have emigrated?
In 2013 I completed the training as a "Qualified Genealogist" (DAGV). Since 2014, I regularly visit the once-yearly German Genealogy Day for further education and exchange with other researcher colleagues.
In August 2016, I attended the "International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences" in Glasgow, an International Genealogy Day that is held only once every two years. There I had the opportunity to exchange with researchers from countries like Canada, USA, Australia, Scandinavia and many more. The lecture series during the three days of the conference includes topics such as immigration and emigration, DNA research as well as ancestors and roots in Germany. In October 2019, I participated for the first time at the world's largest international genealogist congress RootsTech
in London.
For some years I am also a member of the Association for Computer Genealogy and some further regional genealogical associations. My research took place over the years in various church, city and state archives, including the city archives in Buxtehude, Bremerhaven and Lüneburg, the state archives in Detmold, Hamburg, Hanover, Oldenburg and Stade and also the Episcopal Muenster official post in Vechta, to name just a few.
I visited places where my ancestors once lived. Visiting such places is deeply emotional and simply indescribable! I would like to make this experience and the knowledge of my own background possible for you & others!
